Laurel PTA's Work for Play.. that's Play Equipment!

2005:  Began discussions, researching and saving within PTA for replacing aged playground equipment.

2007:  Accumulated $5,000 in savings towards playground equipment. Started discussing ideas with Brea-Olinda School District (BOUSD) and City of Brea 

about support and options.  Applied for grants and started asking others in the community for support.

2008:  Learned of hurdles for re-building in Lagos de Moreno Park “Lower” Playground.

2010:  While not successful with Pepsi Grant Competition, PTA & BOUSD replaced play equipment to Laurel School "Upper" Playground. 

2011:  PTA & BOUSD worked together again to add 6 swings to Upper Playground.

2012:  BOUSD moved slide from Olinda Elementary to Laurel Upper Playground.

2013:  June mtg at park PTA, BOUSD AND City of Brea renew discussions to revitalize the Park.

2014:  June 4th Laurel PTA, BOUSD & the City of Brea meet and determine we need a SUMMER 2014 Open Community Forum. Thursday, August 21, 2014 6:00 - 8:00 pm at the Laurel Elementary School Cafeteria

2015:  School Board & City Council announce they will hold a formal joint mtg (TBD) about this & other issues. DATE TO BE ANNOUNCED. PLEASE PLAN TO ATTEND.

Anyone in our community can participate to revitalize Lagos De Moreno Park / Laurel Lower Playground.
